Devonport Honours Women’s Excellence in the Final Days of Diamonds of Devonport Nominations

Devonport City Council is proud to announce its celebration of International Women’s Day through the esteemed Diamonds of Devonport event, set to take place on Friday 8 March from 6-8pm at Level 3, paranaple convention centre. This year, the event promises to shine brighter than ever, recognising the remarkable contributions of women who live or work within the Devonport community.

Since the inception of Diamonds of Devonport in 2012, over 335 women have been honoured for their significant contributions across various sectors, embodying the spirit of excellence and community service. This year, the tradition continues with the call for nominations across three categories: Personal or Community Achievement, Entrepreneurial Achievement, and Young Achiever (under 30 years).

Julie Foster, this year’s Ambassador for Diamonds of Devonport, is a co-owner of the well-established local retail surf store, Passport Surf. Julie expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “It’s a privilege to be part of an event that not only celebrates, but truly recognises the pivotal role women play in enriching our community. The Diamonds of Devonport serves as a beacon of inspiration, encouraging women to shine in their respective fields.”

The event will also feature entertainment by the sensational Kitty Martini and Brad Von Rock, ensuring an evening of glamour and celebration. Attendees are invited to glam up for a cocktail event that includes a free drink on arrival and canapés, setting the stage for an unforgettable night.

Nominees for the 2024 Diamonds of Devonport awards must reside or work in the Devonport municipal area and have made a significant, enduring contribution to the community. This includes long-term volunteers, individuals overcoming personal obstacles to aid others, and successful entrepreneurs or business owners within Devonport. It is important to note that previous Diamond recipients are eligible for nomination in a new category if their contribution is significantly different and impactful.

Nominations are quick and easy to complete and close at 9am on Monday, 12 February 2024. The community’s participation in recognising and nominating these outstanding women is crucial to the continued success of Diamonds of Devonport.

Devonport City Council invites the community to join in celebrating the achievements of these remarkable women, who serve as pillars of strength and progress within our community.
