Devonport to Celebrate Cultural Diversity with Annual Harmony Day Festivities

Devonport is set to celebrate its cultural diversity at its annual Harmony Day celebrations. This year’s event will take place on Thursday, 21 March, at Haines Park, on the Waterfront, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm, promising an evening of multicultural celebration and community spirit.

Harmony Day is a testament to the city’s rich culture, and this year’s event is no exception. Attendees will be treated to a spectacular showcase of multicultural talents from the local community, including performances by artists from the Samoan, Solomon Islands and Kiribati communities. The event will also feature a Sri Lankan adult dance, traditional Cambodian and Indian dancing, and the exuberant Greek Zorba, all highlighting the unique cultures and traditions of Devonport’s diversity.

In line with the theme of “everyone belongs,” the event aims to promote inclusivity, respect, and a sense of belonging for all. This theme reflects Devonport’s commitment to celebrating its multicultural heritage and fostering a welcoming community for everyone.

To complement the rich artistic entertainment, the event will also offer activities suitable for all ages and abilities, including henna tattooing. Food enthusiasts will enjoy diverse offerings from local vendors as part of the popular Street Eats, featuring delicious cuisines that epitomises Devonport’s multicultural mix.

The Harmony Day event and activities to come together and celebrate the wonderful and rich cultures of the people who call our local community home.
