Names after Frederick Haines, owner of the sawmill that formally operated on this site. It was developed as part of the LIVING CITY Masterplan.
Amphitheatre
Haines Park includes a flexible amphitheatre space, catering for over 4000 people in the largest setting, but is equally inviting and usable as an informal space to meet and hang out. The diagrams below demonstrate seating capacity with a variable stage location. Loading and unloading for events will occur from either Formby Road or the access road beneath the Elevated Platform.
Roundhouse Park
Roundhouse Park and Mussel Rock includes a nature playground, BBQ shelter including picnic table and amenities. Opened in 2023, Roundhouse Park can be accessed via the many footpaths along Rooke Street and Formby Road. It can also be accessed via the elevated walkway and footpaths through Haines Park.
The Rotunda

The Rotunda is also home to the “From Sky to Sea” light and sound show is a nightly event held the Rotunda area. Each show lasts approximately 14 minutes and is followed by a static projection display until the next show starts. The experience is free to attend and is best viewed after dark. “From Sky to Sea” is an immersive experience narrates the story of Devonport and its surroundings over the course of a day, starting from the Palawa creation story at night, moving through dawn in the mountains, the journey of the Mersey River, vibrant farmlands, and culminating in a dramatic night-time storm over Bass Strait.
