Mayor’s Message – 26 May 2020

Because of ongoing COVID-19 restrictions Council has extended the expiry date for Pensioner Parking Permits until 13 July.

To assist with restrictions around social distancing, a staged approach to processing applications for new permits is required.  A letter will be sent to all recipients explaining the process this week.

Council’s intention to make proposed By-Law to regulate and licence street trading on public streets within the Devonport municipality.

Submissions from the public are invited on the proposed By-Law. All submissions are required to be made in writing and may be mailed to the General Manager, PO Box 604, Devonport 7310 or emailed to council@devonport.tas. gov.au

The period within which submissions may be made will close at 5.00 p.m. on Friday 12 June 2020.

The proposed By-Law, along with the Regulatory Impact Statement prepared in respect of the By-Law, can be viewed on Council’s website by clicking here. A copy can also be obtained  by contacting Council on 6424 0511 or emailing council@devonport.tas.gov.au

The objectives of the proposed By-Law and the means of achieving them are set out in the Regulatory Impact Statement as well as the primary features of the By-Law and its envisaged or potential impact on the community or particular groups within the community. The public exhibition period for the draft Devonport Local Provisions Schedule (LPS)has been extended.

The draft LPS will form part of the single state-wide planning scheme known as the Tasmanian Planning Scheme

Representations must be received by close of business Friday 12 June 2020.

A reminder that Council has reintroduced parking fees for street meters from today. Council car parks will remain free for a further three weeks.
