Celebrating Legacy: Devonport City Council to Host Special Luncheon for Long-Standing Ratepayers

With great pleasure, Devonport City Council announces the return of its annual luncheon, a tradition aimed at honouring and celebrating residents who have been ratepayers in the City for over 50 years. This year marks the ninth iteration of this special event, reflecting Council’s commitment to acknowledging its long-term ratepayers.

Event Highlights:
Date: Tuesday, 24 October 2023
Time: 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm
Location: paranaple convention centre, Level 3, 137 Rooke Street, Devonport
Registration: Mandatory
Booking Deadline: Friday, 13 October 2023

The luncheon is a cornerstone of the week-long series of events organised to celebrate Seniors Week, running from Monday, 16 October to Sunday, 22 October 2023. This year, the festivities revolve around the theme “Celebrate,” a fitting tribute to the vibrant and diverse senior community of Devonport. Seniors Week is designed to foster a sense of community, encourage social interaction, and showcase the diverse range of activities available to our senior residents.

“The ratepayer’s luncheon is a small gesture to show our deep appreciation and respect for the residents who have been integral to our community for over fifty years,” Devonport Mayor Alison Jarman said.

“It’s an opportunity to celebrate the knowledge, experiences, and stories of our long-term ratepayers, and acknowledge their contribution to the City and the community,” Cr Jarman said.

Guests will enjoy a slideshow of old historic Devonport Buildings and will be entertained by musician Kitty Martini.

Eligible residents who would like to attend the luncheon are required to register by either calling 03 6424 0511 or emailing [email protected].

Bookings for the luncheon are essential and must be made by 13 October to assist with event planning.
