Alex Noble: The Face of Resilience, Positivity, and Living Life

The Devonport Access and Inclusion Working Group is thrilled to announce a special event featuring Alex Noble, a remarkable individual who embodies resilience, reinvention, positivity, and the pursuit of a fulfilling life. The event will take place on Thursday, 15th June 10.30am. Tickets can be purchased on Eventbrite.
On Sunday, 21st October 2018, at the age of 16, Alex Noble was engaged in his favourite activity – playing rugby. As a rising sports star, he was training with the Under-17 NSW Rugby Sevens youth selection squad. Tragically, he suffered a severe injury on the field, breaking his neck and sustaining significant damage to his spinal cord.

Doctors delivered the devastating news to Alex that he would never walk again and that he would likely be a quadriplegic with paralysis from his arms down. However, Alex’s unwavering determination and spirit led him on a remarkable journey to regain function and movement in his limbs.

Mayor Alison Jarman expressed her admiration for Alex’s journey, stating, “Alex Noble’s story is a testament to the unbeatable human spirit and serves as an inspiration to us all. His resilience and positive outlook is truly remarkable, and his impact reaches far beyond our community. We are honoured to have him as our guest, and I encourage everyone to attend this extraordinary event.”

The Access and Inclusion Working Group is dedicated to supporting Council in achieving the objectives of the Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2020-2025. The group provides advice to the Council on matters relating to persons with a disability and assists in the development of access and inclusion policies.
