Devonport City Council recognises the immense community benefit provided to our residents and visitors by local organisations through the provision of opportunity for involvement in activities in Devonport. Consequently Council have developed a Financial Assistance Scheme as one method of supporting and assisting local organisations in providing additional options for the Devonport Community.
Up to $3000 available to non-profit organisations to provide programs that enhance health and well-being, environmental sustainability, arts, culture and heritage, and sports and recreation. Includes activities to improve safety, undertake minor capital works, and purchase equipment.

Eastern Shore Community House was successful in attaining $2,500 for a 10 week series of 2 hour workshops that engage people who are not currently active in a variety of physical activities as part of their Get Active Program.
The Devonport Anglers Club was awarded $793 towards the purchase of a portable toilet to enable expansion of their sustainable fishing community program.
The Rotary Club of Devonport South-East is developing a website to act as an operational tool for Rotarians. They were successfully granted $491 towards this development.
Tasmanian Arboretum Inc is held "Music Maker Among the Trees" on 11 February 2012, an event with a diverse music program for the community to enjoy. $3,000 was awarded to them to assist with the event, which includes $1,500 in-kind support.
Devonport Aikido Club received $250 to purchase training equipment to increase participation.
The Devonport Athletic Club's Christmas Carnival attracts visitors and competitors from interstate and overseas. It promotes healthy lifestyle and opportunities for local athletes to compete with the world's best. They were granted $4,000 for the event.
The Devon State Junior Netball Carnival provides pathways for players, coaches, managers, bench officials, administrators and umpires. It promotes a healthy, active lifestyle. Council provided in-kind support for the event.
The Devonport Apex Regatta showcases human powered and motorized aquatic events, as well as wood chopping, entertainment and side shows and is a major event on the Devonport calendar. Council provided in-kind support of tables, chairs, marquees, bins and labour to set up road closure signs.
Devonport Aquatic Club holds the Devonport Swimming Carnival to raise awareness of swimming and showcase some of the regions best swimmers. Council has provided in-kind support by waiving the pool fees up to $3,000.
The Whirpool Challenge - Tascookcomp is Australia's largest one-day live cooking competition. It has assisted young people to get a head start in the hospitality industry through traineeships and apprenticeships. Devonport High School was granted $3,000 towards this event.
Now in its 5th year, the "Mersey Valley Tour" attracts men and women from Australia's best U19 cyclists, as well as elite riders, their coaches and support crew. A grant of $2,000 was awarded towards the event.
