Tickets now available for International Women’s Week events

Tickets are now available to purchase for a range of International Women’s Week events being facilitated by the Devonport City Council commencing on Wednesday 5 March.

The events include luncheons, film events, a self-defence class, social evenings and a range of inspiring local guest speakers.

Activities will culminate with the announcement of the Diamonds of Devonport at a cocktail party in the paranaple convention centre at 6.00 pm on Thursday 12 March.

Diamonds will be recognised in the categories of Personal Achievement, Community Achievement, Business Achievement and Young Achiever, for those under 30.

Tickets for the event cost $25 and are available from www.devonporttickets.com.au or on level 2 at Council’s customer service centre  in the paranaple centre.

A panel of local women will share their journeys and insights on how to succeed in all aspects of life at a free ‘Each for Equal’ event on Tuesday 10 March at 6 p.m. in the paranaple convention centre.

Attendees will hear from gemologist and jewellery valuer and long-serving community volunteer Margaret Fay, Department of Education administrator and hockey player, coach and mentor Jan Robertson, successful hospitality entrepreneur and mother of four Claire Fielding and artist and volunteer fire fighter Tara Felts.

The evening, with respected international hockey umpire Minka Woolley as the MC, is free and a light supper will be included.

The Zonta Club of Devonport will host an evening soiree on Thursday 5 March at the Zest Café and former Braddon MHR Justine Keay will be the guest speaker at a free Care Forward luncheon on Tuesday 10 March.

Devonport-based lawyer and Law Society president Crystal Garwood will be the guest speaker at a Soroptimists Celebrating Women social evening on Wednesday 11 March.
