Santa tours the suburbs to spread the spirit of Christmas

Next week, as part of the Spirit of Christmas in Devonport, Santa will be touring the Devonport suburbs in a chauffeur-driven convertible.

To make it easy for people to track Santa’s journey, the Council, Devonport Motor Show and the Rotary Club of Devonport North have teamed up with RallySafe, a local company used in motorsports worldwide.

RallySafe is the world’s most advanced rally management system, using the latest technology. The system will use mobile networks and satellite tracking to update Santa’s Tour map in real time, so families will be able see when the convoy is getting close to their area.

Children are invited to come out to their front yards and driveways and to make some noise as Santa goes past. Santa, along with Mrs Claus and Bella Elf, would love to hear children singing Christmas songs, ringing bells, or blowing whistles.

Devonport City Council Mayor, Cr Annette Rockliff said, “This is a very exciting development! RallySafe are a wonderful local business working with the Devonport Motor Show team to support Santa’s Tour.”

“The technical support they are providing will help families to be ready for Santa as he passes. We don’t want children to miss out on seeing him as he prepares for his biggest job of the year.”

Santa’s Tour will be between 6pm-8pm on 15-17 December. The intended routes can be found at http://bit.do/SpiritofChristmas2020 , along with information about many of the festive events and activities happening around Devonport in December.

The RallySafe app can be downloaded for free to your handheld device, or you can view the map for any of the sessions at http://bit.do/SpiritofChristmasSantaTour.
