Miandetta Reserve

Miandetta Reserve is located in Miandetta off Beaumont Drive and is bordered by the railway line to the south and east and private residential properties on its northern and western boundaries.

Miandetta Reserve is an important local habitat, supporting a range of native wildlife, including Central North Burrowing Crayfish, and several species of microbats.

In 2019, students from a local primary school assisted Council’s Natural Resource Management Officer to plant approximately 48 native seedlings along the waterway, and around the Central North Burrowing Crayfish chimneys. Images below.

In 2026 environmental activities in the reserve have recorded several bat species, including:

  • Little forest bat
  • Southern forest bat
  • Large forest bat
  • Gould’s wattled bat
  • Chocolate wattled bat

These findings highlight the ecological value of the reserve and the importance of continued conservation efforts.
