Mayor’s Message – 8 July 2020

Devonport City Council recognises the immense benefits provided to our residents and visitors by local community organisations through the provision of activities and services.

Granting a full or partial remittance of the general rate is one method of supporting and assisting local non-profit organisations to cater for and respond to the needs of Devonport residents.

2020-2021 applications for Rates Remissions will be accepted between 1 July and 31 August and assessed in September.  Details on eligibility, conditions and the online application form can be found on Council’s website [1].

‘Devonport Jazz in Retrospect’

We could not let the 19th year of Devonport Jazz go by without some kind of acknowledgment and celebration.

We are lucky to have access to select footage from as far back as 2006, so we will be using that to put together short clips of concerts and events to share throughout July.

Initially selected clips can be found on the Devonport Jazz Facebook page.

As we get closer to the actual festival dates, 23-26 July, we will unveil the ‘Devonport Jazz in Retrospect’ YouTube channel.

This new channel will host a lovely collection of festivals gone by, and we can add to it as we move forward.

Even though we can’t gather to the extent where we can run the festival this year, please join us in July as we celebrate Devonport Jazz, the artists, the organisers and volunteers that have made our festival so special.  And we look forward to next year when many of the artists who were engaged for this year, have indicated that they would like to be part of next year’s program.
