Seniors Week (12-18 October) call for Expressions of Interest

This year Senior’s Week will be an opportunity for Tasmanians of all ages to join together and celebrate the valuable contributions of older people within our community.

Council is seeking to facilitate partnerships within the community in order to build a week long calendar of events for seniors that is inclusive of all walks of life.

Due to COVID-19, the calendar of events will look quite different to previous years.  All events will be required to observe COVID safety plans covering things such as hygiene and social distancing.

To be eligible for inclusion in the calendar, Expressions of Interest must be submitted by 3 September 2020.  Application forms are available on Council’s website.

Expressions of Interest are also being sought for Devonport Food and Wine.

To be held in October, the DFW calendar traditionally comprises food, beverage, and hospitality events staged in and around Devonport.  Our aim is to empower and educate the community, as well as offering social opportunities in line with COVID-19 restrictions.

Event organisers are encouraged to think ‘outside the square’ given the current situation and partner with like-minded organisations and producers to deliver a quality and memorable event.

Expressions of Interest must be submitted by Sunday 31 August 2020.

For more information, or to complete the Expression of Interest, please go to the Devonport Food and Wine website.

Devonport City Council recognises the immense benefits provided to our residents and visitors by local community organisations through the provision of activities and services.

Granting a full or partial remittance of the general rate is one method of supporting and assisting local non-profit organisations to cater for and respond to the needs of Devonport residents.

2020-2021 applications for Rates Remissions will be accepted between 1 July and 31 August and assessed in September.  Details on eligibility, conditions and the online application form can be found on Council’s website.

Did you know that each week the Devonport Regional Gallery has ‘Creative Space at Home’ workshops?  Each week the Gallery provides online instructions to enable people to get creative in their own homes – why not try a paper portrait, or a stained-glass landscape?  All workshops are available on the paranaple arts centre website.
