It is very pleasing to be able to include additional projects in the 2020/21 Capital Works Program and the operational budget, thanks to the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) Program.

This funding has been provided to assist a community-led recovery from COVID-19 by supporting local jobs, firms and procurement.  Council has been offered a grant of $506,733 through the program which will enable the additional work to occur.

Do you have some spare time to volunteer?  The Friends of Don Reserve meet every fortnight to assist in improving the biodiversity of Don Reserve and surrounds, and they are currently looking for new members.

To get involved, complete a Council Volunteer Registration Form [1], or contact Phil at Council for more information [email protected] [2].

Formby Road (between Best Street and Victoria Parade) will be closed from 3 August 2020 until 25 September 2020, from 7:00am to 5:00pm each day to enable the conduct of pavement and kerb construction.  Please take care when driving in this area during the noted closure period.

Devonport Local Government Area road side weed management spraying is due to commence on Monday 3 August, by a contractor, weather permitting.

Property owners may request the City to not undertake spraying on the road reserve in front of or alongside their properties by applying to be listed on the City’s ‘No Spray Register [3]’ on the Council Website. Applications require the property owner to provide a management plan identifying the method of control for weeds and how regularly the property owner plans to undertake this control.

26 July – 2 August 2020 is Donate Life Week.

This is a national awareness week dedicated to promoting organ and tissue donation.  Across Australia, DonateLife agencies and our community stakeholders help spread the word about the life changing gift of organ and tissue donation.

The aim of the awareness campaign is to inspire Australians to make a difference to the lives of others by registering and telling their family they want to be a donor.  To find out more information, visit the DonateLife [4] website.
