Mayor’s Message – 26 November 2019

To commemorate International Volunteer Day, the Devonport City Council will be hosting a barbecue to celebrate the wonderful contribution volunteers make to our community.

Council is pleased to invite all persons who work in a volunteer capacity in the Devonport municipality to attend the Thank you Breakfast with yours truly, other Councillors and Council staff wielding the tongs.

A reminder that the Annual General Meeting of the Devonport City Council for the year ended 30 June 2019 will be held on Monday, 9 December 2019 in the Aberdeen Room, Level 2, paranaple centre, 137 Rooke Street, Devonport commencing at 5.00 pm

You only have until Thursday 28 November to register for the 2019 Devonport Christmas Parade.

This year the Christmas Parade, to be held on Friday 6 December at 6.30 p.m., will traverse a route taking in James Street, Victoria Parade, Bluff Road and Clements Street.

It will be a shorter and flatter route than previous years, and people are encouraged to consider entering a walking float.

Nominations will close on Monday 2 December for the Devonport City Council’s 2020 Australia Day Awards.

Devonport residents and ratepayers are encouraged to nominate worthy individuals who have made significant contributions to the Devonport community. Award categories include Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Community Event of the Year Award.

Young Citizen of the Year nominees must be aged under 30 years on 26 January 2020.

The Awards are open to residents and/or ratepayers of the Devonport local government area.

There are many people within our community who do great things, and this is one way in which we can celebrate them.
