Mayor’s Message – 03 March 2020

The Bicycle Network will be hosting a free family bicycle ride in Devonport on Saturday 7 March as part of Tasmanian Bike Week.

The ride leaves the Splash Aquatic Centre at 11am and heads through the Don Reserve to the bluff and onto the Spirit of the Sea for people wanting to go a bit further.

Participants will then return to Splash for a coffee or refreshing drink. To find out more go to

The announcement of the 2020 Diamonds of Devonport will be made next Thursday, 12 March, at a cocktail party in the paranaple convention centre.

Diamonds will be recognised in the categories of Personal Achievement, Community Achievement, Business Achievement and Young Achiever, for those under 30.

A Diamond is not necessarily a woman who performs a high-profile community service role, but someone who quietly goes about making a difference to the community and others through her actions

I am very proud of the event and am looking forward to the opportunities it will present to support and encourage the amazing women who live and work in our city.

Tickets for the event cost $25 and are available from www.devonporttickets.com.au or on level 2 at Council’s customer service centre  in the paranaple centre.

The evening will wind up a week-long program of events in the city to recognise International Women’s Week.
