Queen Elizabeth II condolence page

To honour the passing of her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on September 8, 2022, this webpage was created for our community to share messages of condolence.

Queen Elizabeth II is an inspirational example of dedication and service to her country. She led a life devoted to public service and a life in the public eye.

Devonport City Council pays homage to the 96-year-old royal, who was the longest-reigning Monarch in history.

Devonport has been honoured to have royal visits in the past, one of the most memorable was when the Queen and Prince Philip visited our town back in 1954 during their Royal tour.

Another royal visit that many will remember was in April 1981 when the then Prince Charles officially declared Devonport a city.

Condolence Message by Annette Jeffery [10]My Queen Elizabeth ii was the most inspirational women of our century and her legacy will live on for ever to be written among histories greatest people. Queen Elizabeth's dedication to the service and duty of her country and Commonwealth of nations was over and above any other monarch that has ever lived. Her exemplary conduct in her Royal duties and her private life were to be commended. The Queen's great faith gave her a solid foundation for which to base her life upon and it came across in her dealings with all peoples that she had to engage with from all walks of life in all countries. She was respected, looked up to, admired, adored and loved. The world will most probably never see the likes of her again and sadly an inspirational light has gone from our lives . For us, her subjects we can only join with thousands of others that morn her loss and say with grateful hearts, we have loved a great lady and will miss her immensely. For all she gave to us throughout her seventy years of dedication Thank you. It was indeed an honour to have been a loyal subject for all of my adult life and it is with a very heavy heart I say a farewell for now until we meet again.   Location: Latrobe

I recognise that my words have little impact in this a time of great sorrow, but I would like to say that her Majesty was and is the greatest monarch the Commonwealth of Australia has ever had and we are eternally grateful for this. She was and always will be one of the greatest people of her generation, a beacon of duty, honour and nobility.
