Notifiable Diseases

Notifiable diseases are certain infectious illnesses which have been identified by the Director of Public Health as those that could pose a significant risk to the general population.  Council Environmental Health Officers are routinely requested to investigate not only the potential sources of disease outbreaks, but also if necessary to carry out appropriate preventative measures.

The Tasmanian Department of Health and Human Services have put together some fact sheets on some commonly investigated diseases, which can be found here.

For further information or advice you can contact Council’s Environmental Health Department on 03 6424 0511.
