International Women’s Day
Devonport City Council will once again celebrate International Women’s Day with Diamonds of Devonport.
Since its inception in 2012, Diamonds of Devonport have recognised the efforts of more than 307 women who live or work within our community.
Nominations will be accepted for 2023 awards for the following categories:
- Personal Achievement
- Business Achievement
- Community Achievement
- Young Achiever (under 30 years)
Nominees must live or work in the Devonport Local Government area and have made a significant contribution over a period of time that enhances the Devonport Community.
- A long term volunteer of a community or sporting organisation; or a community provider organisation
- An employee of an organisation who has contributed over and above their day to day role
- A business woman/self-employed woman who has established a business in Devonport
The 2023 International Women’s Day theme is: Embrace Equity – with a focus on creating a gender equal world. As such Diamonds of Devonport nominations are open to female, non-binary and genderqueer people.
NOTE: A previous Diamond recipient will not be awarded a second Diamond UNLESS it is within a different category and is a significant contribution within that different category
Nominations closed on 9am on Monday the 20 February 2023.
2023 Ambassador
Devonport’s former mayor Annette Rockliff is honoured to be this years ambassador.
2023 Diamonds of Devonport Event
This year’s finalists were acknowledged at a cocktail event held on Wednesday, 8 March at 6pm at the paranaple convention centre.
Council will once again be collecting donations for the Share the Dignity March drive. We encourage you to drop off donations to Council’s Customer Service Counter (Level 2, paranaple centre) or the Bass Strait Maritime Centre (6 Gloucester Ave) during the months of March.
The 2020 cocktail party was held Thursday 12 March, 6pm at the paranaple convention centre.
Diamonds, family friends and community supporters heard from Diamonds Event Patron Mayor Annette Rockliff, the 2020 Ambassador Margaret Fay and were entertained by Lasca Dry.
It was a fantastic night celebrating the achievements of local women within our community.
