An annual Citizen Science event hosted by Birdlife Australia. 

Citizen Science: the collection and analysis of data relating to the natural world by members of the general public, typically as part of a collaborative project with professional scientists.

The Aussie Backyard Bird Count is an activity that anyone of any age can enjoy.  It involves counting birds that live near you over 20min periods. Counts can be conducted in your garden, at the local park, reserve or beach.
