Harmony Week support for Ukraine

Devonport Mayor Annette Rockliff said as part of Harmony Week (21-27 March) the paranaple convention centre will be lit up yellow and blue in support of the people of Ukraine.

Cr Rockliff said she hoped the fitting tribute during Harmony Week would provide a visual reminder for the community to reflect and appreciate our country’s cultural diversity and freedom.

She said the Ukraine flag would also feature on the outdoor TV screen in Market Square each evening during the week.

“This unbelievable situation has had a global impact and what better time to pay tribute to cultural harmony with this year’s theme “Everyone Belongs”,” Cr Rockliff said.

“Harmony Day is about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.”

“To recognise this annual celebration, Devonport City Council has created a community recipe book inspired by submissions from residents.

“Thank you to everyone that shared their favourite dishes with our events team – the online recipe book will be available this week via Council’s website.”

Cr Rockliff said Council had previously lit up the paranaple convention centre in support of raising awareness for significant events or causes.
