Financial assistance grants program now open

Devonport City Council is encouraging community groups, clubs and organisations to apply for the latest round of the Financial Assistance Scheme grants.

Devonport Acting Mayor Alison Jarman said Council has supported many beneficial projects through the grants program and encouraged those interested to assess their strategic goals and requests that may be suitable under the grant guidelines.

Cr Jarman said funding is available in two categories, with funding of up to $3,000 available in the Minor grant program and grants of up to $25,000 available for Major projects. There are co-funding requirements for any grant above $7,500 and 50% co-funding requirement for the purchase of equipment.

“It is always encouraging to see applications for a wide variety of projects and activities that aim to contribute to the benefit of our community,” Cr Jarman said.

“From clubs improving their meeting places and facilities, to organisations and groups wanting to try a new event or purchase equipment to assist the health and wellbeing of the community, Council is proud to assist in bringing these projects to life through the Financial Assistance Scheme.

“I encourage all clubs and groups to take a look at the grant guidelines, assess their eligibility and to contact Council’s Community Services team if you have further questions.”

Cr Jarman said the grants are aimed at supporting clubs, community groups and organisations with one-off projects, events and activities, with any funded activity in this round to be completed by December 2022.

Also available are Community Rates Remissions, which offer full or partial remittance of general rates for local not-for-profit organisations who cater for and respond to the needs of Devonport residents.

Applications are open until 31 August 2021 and will be assessed and submitted for approval at the September Council meeting.
