Great Southern Bioblitz
Join this Citizen Science activity!
The Great Southern Bioblitz (GSB) occurs from midnight Friday 28 October to Monday 31st October in the southern hemisphere. In 2021 there were over 150 local government areas from 13 nations across 3 continents that participated in #GSB21. The aim is to provide a platform for groups and citizens who wish to engage in a simple Citizen Science activity. The GSB now in its 3rd year and Devonport City Council is inviting anyone who likes taking photos of plants, animals, fish & or fungi as they journey through parks or reserves in the Devonport region to sign up to the iNaturalist app and join the Devonport Great Southern Bioblitz project
To become involved in the Bioblitz, you will need to download the iNaturalist app and then upload the photos you have taken of native flora and fauna in the Devonport area to the project folder see this link https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/great-southern-bioblitz-2022-devonport
By getting involved in this activity you are volunteering to help scientists by recording our unique biodiversity. Who knows. you might be lucky enough to photograph something rare or previously not recorded in our region!
