Devonport Road Network Strategy open for public consultation

The Devonport City Council invites community feedback on its Road Network Strategy 2023 – 2028 (RNS) during the month of February.

The public consultation period, which ends on Thursday, 2 March, demonstrates Devonport City Council’s ongoing commitment to developing and maintaining safe and efficient roads as the city continues to grow.

Devonport Mayor Alison Jarman said the community consultation will focus on Council’s road network, community transport needs and how they align with Council’s Strategic Plan objectives.

“The strategy reflects Council’s dedication to making our roads safer, sustainable and more efficient” Cr Jarman said.

“With LIVING CITY underpinning growth and development in the city, Devonport is evolving and Council is very mindful of proactively addressing the challenges that comes with such growth”.

“It serves as a vision for our transport system, catering to the diverse needs of our city. The strategy will assist Council with asset management, traffic management and development decisions, all of which can impact everyday life in Devonport,” Cr Jarman said.

The RNS identifies 22 deliverable actions that address important issues that were identified through network analysis and key stakeholder consultation. The strategy builds on the framework of the initial 2009 plan that was revised in 2014 and again in 2016.

“We want to hear what’s important to the community; how you feel about the existing road network and the ways that Council can improve road safety, connectivity and congestion.”
