Proposed Budget:              $104,000 (seeking 100 % funding from VRU program)

Project Objective:              Asset upgrade – safety

Project Justification:        Mersey Road is a major arterial road with increasing traffic volumes. Traffic queues occur around the school entry and crossing at start and finish of school day. Travelling by car to school has a significant impact on traffic congestion

Project Scope:                  Re-aligning kerb and removing parking close to crossing and increasing the size of the school crossing islands. Installing the right turn lane for the school car park

Bluff Headland – Handrail replacement and extension

The southern part of the path has a handrail, but a risk assessment has recommended that the handrail be extended to reduce the risk of falls. In addition, the existing handrail is approaching end of life and should be renewed at the same time.
