Project Objective:              Asset Upgrade – Safety

Project Justification:     Correspondence has been received from Don Railway regarding pedestrians not using and incorrectly using the pedestrian crossings in Don Reserve resulting in potential near miss incidents with trains.  There is a risk of a serious incident

Project Scope:                    Upgrade the approach, crossings and signage at the three Don Reserve crossings, noting that other operational work may be required to close off informal and unsafe access points

Bluff Headland – Handrail replacement and extension

The southern part of the path has a handrail, but a risk assessment has recommended that the handrail be extended to reduce the risk of falls. In addition, the existing handrail is approaching end of life and should be renewed at the same time.
