The Devonport City Council is seeking public input into its access and inclusion plan aimed at making the city a better place for all to live in.
Mayor Annette Rockliff said Council wanted to know about the experiences of its community in dealing with Council, particularly what worked and what did not work.
“We also want to know about ways to make it easier for residents and visitors living with disability,” Cr Rockliff said.
Cr Rockliff said the feedback would be used to develop a five-year plan to improve access and inclusion to all Council facilities and services.
“We want to know if residents believe that Devonport is an accessible community which means everyone can go to places, get around the city and access the Council services and Council information they require.”
“We also want to know if residents think the Council is helping to build an inclusive community which means that they feel their voice is being heard by Council, everyone can take part in social events and sporting and cultural activities run by Council and all have the opportunity to work or volunteer at Council.”
Residents can have their say by:
- Attending a face to face group meeting with other community members and Council staff (late July-mid August, contact Council to register you interest) or;
- Completing a survey – available via the Council website here until Friday 9 August. [1]
- Making a comment on the Speak Up Devonport feedback form here [2]
- Submitting a short video or audio through the above-mentioned feedback form.
Hard copies of the survey are also available from Council offices in the paranaple centre. Interested parties can also call Council on 6424 0511 to be sent a copy.
Public input will be accepted until Friday 9 August 2019.
