All notifiable plumbing work as defined by the Building Act 2016 [1] including installing, altering or maintaining a plumbing installation (ie. roofing, drainage, pipe work) must be undertaken by a plumber who holds an appropriate licence under the Occupational Licensing Act 2005.
A plumber’s registration can be checked via the licence databases [2] website.
The licensed plumber must complete and sign a Start Work Notice [3] and receive authorisation from the Permit Authority prior to carrying out the plumbing work.
