Bluff Road Coastal Reserve

Bluff Road Coastal Reserve is located north of Devonport's CBD in West Devonport, and is bordered by Victoria Parade Parklands and Bluff Road to the south, Mersey Bluff Reserve to the west, and Bass Strait to the north. 

Interpretive elements include the Vietnam Veterans War Memorial, the Vertex (metallic art work), Rotary Club Rose Garden, Aikenhead Point Fishing Platform and several commemorative plantings.

Mature and significant trees in the reserve including an avenue of Norfolk Pines and remnant Eucalyptus dotted throughout.

An amenities block is located adjacent to the Vietnam Veterans War Memorial BBQ area at Aikenhead Point and is suitable for people of all abilities;

Adjoining parks include Victoria Parade Parklands (southerly direction) and Mersey Bluff (westerly direction).

Mersey Bluff Reserve 

Mersey Bluff Reserve is Devonport's premier regional public open space. Redeveloped in 2011, this popular area to locals and visitors alike is rich in history and current day attractions. Located at the northern end of William Street and bordered by Bass Strait in West Devonport, it can also be accessed via Bluff Road/Victoria Parade from the CBD.

The headland features Tiagarra, a cultural treasure that provides visitors with a sense of the importance of this area's natural provision to indigenous peoples across the nation. 

It is home Devonport's only standing lighthouse, the Mersey Bluff Lighthouse.  The Lighthouse was established in 1889 and is built of bricks on a stone base. It was automated in 1920. There once stood a keeper's cottage until it was demolished in 1966. The current 4 vertical red stripes were added in 1929, making the lighthouse very distinctive.

Coles Beach Coastal Reserve

Coles Beach Coastal Reserve stretches along Coles Beach Road from the corner of William Street in a westerly direction until it meets the Don River, in West Devonport.

Adjoining reserves include the Don Reserve (westerly direction) and the Mersey Bluff Reserve (easterly direction).

Victoria Parade Parklands 

Victoria Parade Parklands is located on the western shore of the Mersey River in West Devonport, just north of the CBD. It is bordered by the Mersey River, Victoria Parade, Aikenhead Point, and Mussel Rock.

Heritage elements include “Griffith's Shipyard”, a place where ships were once built, the Cenotaph (World War I), the Wilson Sol Aqueous Fountain, various trees identified as significant by the Tasmanian Heritage Council, plaques dotted around the park remembering well respected, deceased members of the community and several commemorative plantings.

There are some mature trees in the reserve including Norfolk Pines, Elms, and Oaks.

Adjoining parks include Mussel Rock (southerly direction), Roundhouse Park (southerly direction) and Bluff Road Coastal Reserve (easterly direction).

Mussel Rock 

Mussel Rock is a riverfront promenade, located in West Devonport, bordered by the Mersey River to the east, the boat ramp on Victoria Parade to the north and the railway line to the west.  Key attractions include the Mussel Rock beacon and viewing/fishing platforms.

Mussel Rock adjoins the Torquay Ferry Terminal which connects the two sides of the river.

Adjoining parks include Roundhouse Park (westerly direction) and Victoria Parade Parklands (northerly direction).

Horsehead Creek Riverside Park

Horsehead Creek Riverside Park is primarily a boat launching facility with a floating pontoon. It is located on the western shore of the Mersey River in West Devonport, south of the CBD off Devonport Road.

East Devonport Beach Coastal Reserve

East Devonport Beach Coastal Reserve is located in East Devonport, north of Spirit of Tasmania Ferry Terminal and is bordered by Wheeler Street to the west, residential properties to the south, Tarleton Street to the east and Bass Strait to the north.

This reserve includes Shipwreck Beach and East Devonport Beach both of which are suitable for swimming.  It also includes a heritage walk, which has plaques detailing the historical buildings and features that once stood there dotted along the path.

Adjoining parks include Wheeler Street Reserve (southern end) and Frederick Heads Coastal Reserve (eastern end).

Frederick Heads Coastal Reserve

Frederick Heads Coastal Reserve is located in East Devonport and is predominantly a natural coastal park with native coastal plants. It is bordered by Tarleton Street to the west, residential properties to the south, Tea Tree Lane to the east and Bass Strait to the north.

Adjoining parks include East Devonport Beach Coastal Reserve (easterly direction).

180 Tarleton Street Reserve

180 Tarleton Street Reserve is bordered by Tarleton Street to the east, the Deck Restaurant to the south, Mersey River to the west and Yacht Club to the north.  It has fantastic views across the Mersey River towards the CBD and Western Foreshore Reserves.

This Reserve is about to undergo a major redevelopment as part of the Devonport Eastern Shore Project.  For further details please contact Council.

Wheeler Street Reserve 

Wheeler Street Reserve is located in East Devonport, bordered by Wheeler Street to the east, the Ferry Terminal to the south, Mersey River to the west and Shipwreck Beach to the north.  It has fantastic views across the Mersey River towards the CBD and Western Foreshore Reserves.

This Reserve is about to undergo a major redevelopment as part of the Devonport Eastern Shore Project.  For further details please contact Council.
