Youth Policy 

The Devonport City Council recognises that young people are integral to the City of Devonport and its future. It is essential for the Council and community to ensure the needs and interests of young people are met and that youth culture is embraced by the wider community. The Council is committed to providing opportunities that encourage and support young people actively participating in community life.

Council's commitment to young people is demonstrated through the development and implementation of initiatives which provide young people with employment, recreation, cultural and social opportunities. In particular, the Council has provided young people with a youth centre, The Zone, where they have access to programs and services which specifically cater for their needs and interests. Council’s Community Development Coordinator, Community Development Officer and Customer Service Officer are based at The Zone.

The Zone is open from Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm, and other times by appointment.

Community groups are welcome to access The Zone for meetings or activities.  Please phone The Zone on 6423 4099 for more information.
