On 16 March 2009, Devonport City Council adopted the draft Devonport City Art Collection Policy.  The policy was drafted by the Devonport Regional Gallery Special Advisory Committee to ensure the collection is managed in accordance with gallery and museum standards. 

The strategic management of the Collection will ensure its potential significance is realised as individual items are acquired, de-accessioned and maintained according to the guidelines outlined in the policy.
