Public Art Policy Print

At the Devonport City Council Meeting held on 16 March 2009, Council adopted the City of Devonport Public Art Policy.  This policy provides guidelines and specific criteria for the evaluation and formal acceptance of all public art projects and memorials proposed for public places in Devonport.

The Policy sits within an overall framework of legislative and corporate policies, plans and strategies that collectively deliver the objectives and responsibilities of the Council.  The Policy outlines objectives for public art that amplify and support the Council's vision as well as providing prescriptive criteria and conditions for the evaluation, acceptance, procurement and ongoing management or public art work, public art gift proposals and memorials.

In developing the City of Devonport Public Art Policy, the Council is confident an equitable and transparent process has been developed to ensure professional artists, community artists and public art proponents have an equal opportunity to participate in and contribute to public art projects for the city.
