The Devonport Community Garden is an initiative of Devonport Community House and is sponsored by Housing Tas. Got a green thumb - or just want to show the kids where vegies come from? The Community Garden, located at 2 Morris Avenue is for everyone to enjoy. With support from the Devonport City Council, local schools, businesses and neighbours, the garden provides an ideal place for people to meet, learn and develop their skills.
Motto: Nurturing the seeds of a growing community.
What's at the Garden for you?
Community Member Plots - all people within the community are welcome to hire a plot in the garden. Due to limited availability, priority is given to people within our target groups and those without access to land. Garden rules apply. Please contact us for further information.
Sponsored Plots - are available to community members at a nominal rate. Sponsors subsidise garden plots for public use. Contact us if you or your organisation wish to sponsor a plot.
Volunteers - we encourage volunteers to donate their skills and time or just come along and potter! In return we offer a share of the harvest.
Opportunities - meeting new people; Occupational Health & Safety procedures; First Aid; leadership skills; committee membership; cooking and sampling sessions; propagating plants; exercise and fresh air. If you can provide mentoring skills in gardening, art & design or building, let us know!
