Mayor's Youth Advisory Council

Devonport Mayor Ald Lynn Laycock has formed a Youth Advisory Council.  The group is made up of 12 young people from Grades 9 through to 12, who have a genuine interest in their community.  The group is called MYAC and they have a strong role in helping Council's Youth Services to develop and implement a range of initiatives.

By participating in MYAC, these young people will develop skills they can use throughout their lives, such as decision making, working in a team, developing creative ideas and finding out how Government works, just to name a few.

When school commences in February 2010 we will be actively recruiting to fill a few empty positions on MYAC.  This is a great chance for local youth to become locally involved in a positive way, have their opinions heard and meet other motivated young people.

If you have an interest in being involved please contact Damian Collins, Youth Officer for Devonport City Council, on 6423 4099.
