Let's Read is an initiative that has been designed to promote reading with young children 0-5 years.
Through Let's Read parents/carers can receive:
- A FREE DVD demonstrating strategies to develop early literacy skills, including age appropriate books being read aloud for the child
- FREE age appropriate books
- Suggested book lists
- Information leaflets that help parents/carers to share books with their children
- Support and advice from trained community professionals on reading to children
Reading with young children is probably the single most important activity that you can undertake to develop a child's future.
Let's Read is designed to encourage parents to have fun with their young children, to help develop a love of books and the ability to name letters and play with the sounds of words.
These are the building blocks that will help children learn to read and write when they get to school.
