Mayor Martin to join Vinnies CEO Sleepout 2012

Sleeping outdoors on cardboard sheets in the middle of winter is no picnic, yet this is the stark reality more than 50,000 homeless men, women and children in Australia face every night.

There are more than 105,000 people who don't have somewhere to call home. In Tasmania alone, 2500 people are homeless on any given night. In a bid to address these problems, the St Vincent de Paul Society is holding its annual Vinnies CEO Sleepout.

On Thursday June 21, CEOs all over the country, including in Launceston, will 'sleep rough' to help raise awareness and much-needed funds for homelessness.

The Mayor, Ald Steve Martin, has registered to "Rise to the Challenge" to help raise awareness and much needed funds so that Vinnies can continue the fantastic work they do in providing food, clothing, accommodation and rehabilitation for those in need.

So on June 21, along with other Tasmania business leaders he will be sleeping rough to experience firsthand what it is like for so many; will you support his involvement by sponsoring him with a donation for this very worthy cause?

Head to the Mayor's donation page to sponsor him today!
