Devonport welcomes visitors and campers to enjoy the scenery and delights of Devonport City and surrounding areas of the North West Coast. There are numerous well appointed camping facilities that will welcome tourists and campers to the region.

There is however a by-law that is designed to protect the City's reserves, parks and gardens from damage and environmental harm.  The by-law defines "camping and includes tents, camper trailers, portable shelters, caravans, campervans, mobile homes or similar vehicles". It also includes sleeping in the open or in a vehicle.

No form of "camping" is permitted in any of Devonport's reserves, parks and gardens (including car parks) between the hours of 10pm and 6am.  Infringements of 5 penalty units maybe imposed for a breach of the by-law.  Council does allow permits for limited camping for "fully self-contained" motor homes at Girdlestone Park, East Devonport and Horsehead Creek, Quoiba.

Permits must be obtained from the Devonport Visitor Information Centre on Formby Road, Devonport.
