Nominations now open for Working Groups
Published on 06 December 2017
Nominations are now open for members of the community to join working groups for two of Devonport’s most successful events – Devonport Jazz and the Devonport Food & Wine Festival.
The Devonport Jazz Working Group and the Devonport Food & Wine Festival Working Group provide forums through which Council can consult with, and receive guidance from, community members regarding each of these popular events. Working group members play a vital role in bringing these events to fruition every year and help shape the success of each event.
The Devonport Jazz Working Group will consist of three Devonport City Council Aldermen, Council’s Events Officer and community members.
Interested members of the community will ideally include those with an interest in music and an understanding of festivals, events, performing arts, business, tourism, economic development and/or marketing within the Devonport municipal area.
The Devonport Food & Wine Festival Working Group will consist of three Devonport City Council Aldermen, Council’s Marketing and Events Officer, community members and industry experts.
Interested industry experts will be experienced, independent, suitably qualified and well respected within the Tasmanian tourism, hospitality and media sector. Interested community members will include individuals with an interest in food and wine, and an understanding of festivals and events in the public domain, business, tourism, economic development and/or marketing within the Devonport municipal area.
Working group members will assist in the development, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting of their respective events. They will also act as ambassadors and assist with promotion for their event.
Devonport Mayor Steve Martin said, “For those with a passion for events, Jazz, or food and wine, this is a great opportunity to be a part of the teams that bring these fantastic events to life.”
“Council encourages anyone who is keen to utilise their skills, experience, ideas and interests in a new and rewarding way to nominate for one of these positions.”
Applications for working group membership positions are open until Friday, 5 January 2018.
