This Saturday Devonport will host the 33rd Devonport Triathlon, an event which has a global reputation as being world class and one of the country’s best triathlon experiences. The Devonport Triathlon is one of the oldest in Australia, with the first event being held in 1985.
This year’s event promises to be even bigger and better, with the inclusion of the ITU Paratriathlon World Cup. The race is staged on the riverfront and at the Bluff so there will be plenty of vantage points to see the athletes in action.
The Elite Women start at 7.30am, followed by the Elite Men at 9.00am. The Paratriathlon starts at 1pm.
This is a free event for spectators, so head along and watch some of the country’s most in-form athletes in action. There will be great food and coffee on-site and a jumping castle for the kids. Parking will be available in William Street and Eugene Street.
A reminder that applications are still open for Round Two of Council’s 2017/2018 Community Financial Assistance Scheme. This scheme provides valuable financial support to help community groups, clubs and organisations deliver important projects and programs which benefit residents. We are particularly keen to support activities based around community facilities, community development, cultural heritage, economic development, sport and recreation, healthy living, festivals and events.
For information about the grants and how to apply, visit www.devonport.tas.gov.au/financial-assistance
Applications for Round Two close on Wednesday 28 February 2018.
