East Devonport Community House
At East Devonport Community House we believe if we provide choice to our community then our community will indeed be ‘squeezing the most out of life’.
If you have never been to a community house, and are not really sure what we are about - the East Devonport Community House is here to help the community meet the needs of its families, children and individuals. We are about people; and for our East Devonport people to help each other to become a vibrant and sustainable community.
At the Community House there’s fun, food, learning and activities. Even the walls are the colour of happiness! You are invited and welcome to join in! Every week we have newcomers so you are not alone.
You may enjoy any number of our weekly activities such as Tai Chi, craft, cards, scrabble, quilting, Bingo and Mahjong; come and be a part of something.
If food is your weakness, we have a lot of that, too! There are cooking classes, community meals, social events based around food and of course … the Food Market where fresh fruit and vegetables are available for a donation. Why not come for a day of painting? Join a great group of people who can teach you painting basics or share their advanced skills. Then, swing by the Food Market to pick up some fresh fruit and veg on the way home.
You may also be interested to know we do these … No Interest Loan Scheme applications, provide public access computers, are a Knitted Knockers branch, are heavily involved with Kommunity Kids, are the founder of Community 4 Community (C4C) and lots of other exciting things that will blow your mind. Keep a look out on our Facebook and website for updates because as our community’s needs change, we evolve to meet those needs. So there are new things happening all the time -supporting you to learn, eat healthy food, make new friends, work your brain or body and above all; have fun! East Devonport Community House is remembering to be awesome.
We are also very interested in hearing your ideas about how we can help you. Think activities, events, volunteering, interpretive dance … anything is possible. We have this beautiful venue and we are a glass half-full team who are here to help you ‘hatch a plan’.
