Citizenship ceremonies are the final step in the journey to become an Australian citizen. They are special events and provide the Devonport City Council with an opportunity to officially welcome our new citizens to our community.
Throughout the year, the Devonport City Council hosts a number of Citizenship Ceremonies. Mayor Steve Martin conducts the ceremony and presents candidates with their Certificate of Citizenship.
The dates and number of ceremonies are determined based on advice given by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection. The Department provides the list of candidates to receive their citizenship and certificates for the ceremony. Each ceremony is conducted in accordance with the Australian Citizenship Ceremony Code.
