Pay Your Rates
Rates need to be paid by the instalment due dates:
- First instalment on or before 31 August
- Second instalment on or before 31 October
- Third instalment on or before 28 February
- Fourth instalment on or before 30 April
Devonport City Council offers a variety of easy and convenient payment options:
Pay by BPay
Contact your participating bank or credit union, via phone or internet. Our biller code is 414 284.
You can now receive and store your rates notice in your online bank account with BPay View. To find out how to register for BPay View talk to your financial institution or visit BPay.
Pay by Direct Debit
Have your rates debited from your savings or cheque account on the instalment due dates or on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis.
To request a direct debit arrangement please complete the Direct Debit Request Form available here or from Council's Customer Service Centre.

Pay by Phone
To pay by VISA or Mastercard over the phone, please contact Council's Payment Hotline on 1300 886 451 at any time.
Pay by MyPost Digital MailBox
You can now receive and pay your rates notices digitally thanks to a new partnership with Australia Post. Find out more about the free digital mailbox service here.
Pay by CentrePay
Contact Centrelink to arrange for regular rates deductions from your Centrelink payments using CentrePay. Alternatively download a copy of the CentrePay form here.
Pay in Person
Visit our Customer Service Centre between 8.30am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. We're located at 17 Fenton Way, Devonport. You can pay by cash, credit card (visa & mastercard), cheque or EFTPOS. Please bring your Rates Notice.
Pay in Person at Service Tasmania
Present your Rates Notice to any Service Tasmania shop, together with your payment.
Pay by Post
Mail us your cheque or money order, noting the Property ID and Location details on the reverse to:
