This project involves the duplication of the stormwater main between Eugene Street and the outfall at Back Beach. This is the last stage in this catchment for some time, as the extension of the main to the outfall will reduce the risk of flooding in the lower and middle parts of the catchments. Other catchments will then become a priority.
It is a continuation of work in the catchment to increase the capacity to meet the Stormwater Strategy requirements. This catchment has been assessed a high risk based on the current capacity, the possibility of damage to private and public property and the safety risk during a major rain event.
It is proposed to bring this project forward as the scope of works in other high-risk catchments are still in development.
